From 30 June, we’re asking users to migrate to Koordinates ID

Soon, the MfE Data Service will be moving to the Koordinates cloud platform. In preparation for this, we are asking users to give permission to migrate their user accounts from MfE to Koordinates ID, managed by our platform providers, Koordinates.

What to expect

From 30 June, when you log-in to the MfE Data Service, you will be asked to verify your email address. If you don’t have a Koordinates ID, you will be asked to create a new password. You will then be asked to give permission to migrate your MfE Data Service account information to your Koordinates ID.

By giving permission to migrate your account, you will also be accepting the Koordinates Terms of Use.

After you have logged in, your existing download history and API tokens (if you have used the APIs) will be migrated to this new account, and will be available for you after you have logged in.

About Koordinates ID

Koordinates ID is a single sign-on for all sites on the Koordinates platform. It is currently used by a range of agency data services, including those from NZ Defence Force, Environment Canterbury and Stats NZ.

With Koordinates ID, you will be able to use your account to access multiple data service sites on the Koordinates platform, without needing to manage multiple passwords.

Why are we migrating?

This account migration is part of a broader migration of the MfE Data Service to the Koordinates cloud platform. We believe that this will lead to improved performance, more rapid upgrades and ultimately make it easier for us to publish more data.

If you have any questions about the migration, please get in touch at customersupport@mfe.govt.nz. For more information, Koordinates have published a blog post on the migration on their site, and have also published an FAQ at Koordinates Help.
