Abstract
SPOT 6 1.5m natural colour mosaic tiled to the extent of the NZTM 1:50,000 topographic map sheet indicated by the tile identification code in the file name.
Purpose
This resource was created as part of a national image mosaic at 1.5m resolution. This imagery will be used to undertake accuracy assessment of the LUCAS 2012 Land Use Map.
Imagery acquired by the SPOT 6 sensor (simultaneous 1.5m Pan & 6m 4-band multispectral (B,G,R,NIR)). The scene has been orthorectified to the New Zealand Transverse Mercator Geodetic Datum 2000 (NZTM 2000) coordinate system. The multispectral imagery was pan sharpened to create a 1.5m colour image for each segment at the sensor processing level. This 1.5m imagery was imported into Pixel Factory for the orthorectification and mosaicing. The segments over New Zealand's North and South Islands were processed in separate block adjustments. Aerial ortho-photography provided by Land Information New Zealand was used for the horizontal ground control. The Landcare Research 15m DEM in NZTM projection provided elevation information. The segments were merged to create a seamless mosaic in which cloud cover was minimised. The segments were contrast matched to reduce join lines and create an 8-bit RGB (natural colour) image. This mosaic is delivered in tiles which equate to the NZTM 1:50k map sheet tiles.
