Method: Type 2 marine protected areas (MPAs) are MPAs that are not marine reserves but meet the MPA protection standard that determines which management tool contribute to the 2005 MPA Policy and Implementation Plan. They are established in the territorial sea (to the 12 nautical mile limit).
