A national model was used to estimate depth to hydrogeological basement. Hydrogeological basement refers to geological material with primary porosity and permeability that is low enough such that fluid volumes and flow rates can be considered negligible. More loosely, depth to hydrogeological basement can be described as depth to ‘the base of an aquifer’. Depth classes were defined to present the dataset in a manner that captures the inherent uncertainty of the dataset.
Depth class | Depth Range (mBGL) |
1 | 0 – 1 |
2 | 1 – 10 |
3 | 10 – 20 |
4 | 20 – 50 |
5 | 50 – 100 |
6 | 100 – 200 |
7 | > 200 |
